The basis of the diagnosis of cardiovascular disease consists in the detection of abnormal blood flow and abnormality in the organs of which circulatory system composed. Physiological tests are the most fundamental and effective means for the purpose.

Since the establishment of the National Cerebral and Cardiovascular Center, the Laboratory of Clinical Physiology has been independent from other laboratories of clinical examination as it provides advanced special service. The Laboratory of Clinical Physiology provides special clinical services and contributes to the advance activity of the National Cerebral and Cardiovascular Center.

We deal with various examination tests at the Division of Clinical Physiology: various ultrasonic examinations (neck, stomach, peripheral vessel and so on)such as various electrocardiograms, exercise tests, phonocardiogram, cardiac catheterization, echocardiogram, electroencephalogram, electromyogram, peripheral circulation tests, respiratory function test, etc.

All the patients treated in the National Cerebral and Cardiovascular Center are subject to some of the physiological diagnostic tests. As the number of patients increases and the level of medical treatment advances, so do the examination whose level become higher.

The Division of Clinical Physiology consists of 20 clinical technicians, many medical specialists and residents who collaborate with them in carrying out examinations. After many years of study and aided by good instruction from medical staffs, the technicians in the Division are now highly-skilled, but still in the pursuit of knowledge and skill. In addition to daily clinical practice, the Division contributes greatly to the development of special technicians for physiological diagnosis and medical specialist for cardiovascular disease, and achieves brilliant work on the study of physiological diagnosis.

In running the Division, we bear the following three things in mind: First, it should be"patients oriented". Next, it should be the place where each staff member can learn a lot both professionally and personally. Lastly, advanced special medical treatment and research study on cardiovascular disease should be carried out effectively.
